Cat-Friendly Vet Visit Preparation Checklist
Vet visits are more manageable when the carrier, travel plan and clinic communication are prepared in advance.

Prepare the equipment without pressure
Confirm the appointment, carrier security and any clinic instructions. Ask about low-stress options for a nervous cat.
Put the equipment away when the cat is not participating, and choose a time without visitors or loud activity. Practice should feel predictable, never like a surprise procedure.
Build comfort in four small steps
When to slow down
For severe transport stress or medical needs, ask the clinic for individualized advice rather than experimenting with medication.
Keep track of progress
Note which item or touch was introduced, the distance, the duration and whether your cat remained relaxed. Return to the same easy starting point next time. If the cat was unsure, reduce the intensity and allow extra time.
Should I feed or sedate my cat before the visit?
Follow your veterinarian's instructions; do not change feeding or give medication without guidance.
