Your kitten’s first days at home

The first days are about helping your kitten feel comfortable. Prepare their space before asking them to explore the whole house.

Have the essentials ready

Set up a quiet, secure area with food, water, a litter tray, a scratcher, toys, and a bed. Keep the litter tray away from food and water. Provide a safe hiding place.

Show them their new space

Once your kitten seems settled, show them where their essentials are. Offer a secure bed at ground level. Let exploration happen gradually rather than introducing every room and person at once.

Let confidence grow

Keep interactions gentle and give your kitten a choice about approaching you. Do not pull them out of a hiding place. Watch for small changes such as exploring, playing, and seeking your company.

Build from the basics

Use your cat’s profile and calendar in Meawys to keep notes about settling in and the routines you want to build. If stress persists without improvement, contact your veterinarian.
